The life on land is diverse in nature and it requires collective efforts to protect, restore and promote the conservation and sustainable use of terrestrial and other ecosystems. Forests and trees constitute the most essential component of the environmental ecosystem. To achieve the goal of environmental sustainability, tree plantation is the simplest and the most useful activity with long term gains for all.

Objectives

We aspire to uplift the quality of living environment through active planting, proper maintenance and preservation of trees together with other vegetation.

  1. Plant trees in the selected locations
  2. Ensure protection of the tree saplings
  3. Maintain trees to grow strong and healthy

Trees are important since they:–

  • Control the temperature – The trees provide an evaporative cooling effect that can decrease local air temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit. This effect typically reaches its peak when evaporation levels are the highest, usually at midday.
  • Help in climate control – There is an excessive Carbon Di Oxide (CO2) building up in our atmosphere and it is contributing to climate change. The trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing oxygen back into the air.
  • Preserve the soil – The trees bind the soil and prevent it from being washed away during the floods.

As an endeavor to contribute to conservation of environment, we have undertaken the Green initiative in collaboration with Admiral Solutions, Gurugram.

Under the project, the major activity has been the plantation of trees in existing public spaces. A total of 200 trees of Terminalia Mantalis have been planted in selected areas in Tau Devi Lal Biodiversity & Botanical Park. The trees with the biological name – Terminalia Mantalis have been selected for the plantation. These trees are commonly called Mantalis. These trees are known for their ornamental value and are highly recommended for shade. These trees are the most suitable for road median planting. These trees are very easy to grow in any kind of soil.

The present project has been implemented at two locations:

  • Tau Devi Lal Biodiversity & Botanical Park, Gurugram
  • Common Public Spaces, Corporate Office Complex, Admiral Solutions, Gurugram
  • Public Parks maintained by RWA, Green Park Extension & Sarai Kale, New Delhi

The responsibility of long term care and protection of trees remains with Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and RWA Green Park Extension. They have the required infrastructure, resources and team for the maintenance and upkeep of plants and trees in the park.
