❖ A visionary and a thorough professional with nearly three and half decades of experience in the field of law, legal education, developing and managing legal resources in the Indian Army.
❖ Revolutionised the military justice system in order to achieve fairness and quick results.
❖ The officer headed the Judge Advocate General Department responsible for managing the Judicial functions of not only entire Indian Army but also the Department of Military Affairs in executing its Military reforms on Tri-Service aspects.

❖ Successfully headed the Judge Advocate General’s Department of the Indian Army which constitutes the legal wing of the Army and is responsible for dealing with the discipline and legal aspects of the force comprising of almost 13 Lakh troops. As the advisor to the Chief of Army Staff on legal matters advised the COAS on multifarious sensitive and complicated legal issues.
❖ Being the head of the litigation wing of the Army, successfully guided in effective defence of numerous cases before various courts and tribunals of the country including the Armed Forces Tribunal, High Courts of various States and the Supreme Court.
❖ As Patron of the Institute of Military Law (The only tri services mil law training institution of Asia) played a key role in modernizing and evolving the teaching program and improving the standard of training being imparted. Also played a pivotal role in ensuring the shifting of the institute from its erstwhile location of Kamptee (Maharashtra) to its current location, New Delhi in order to ensure that student officers have greater exposure and enhanced learning opportunities.
❖ Apart from discharging legal duties, true to the spirit of being a soldier, participated in operations in Sri Lanka under the aegis of the United Nations forces and was awarded the Sena Medal gallantry for the acts of bravely and valour in the face of the enemy.
❖ The officer holds proven ability as an extremely effective and result-oriented administrator who has led innumerable administrative reforms within the Judicial Wing of Indian Army which includes, relaunch of unique Military Law Journal (MLJ) in an improved form in terms of the content enrichment, case compilation and wider circulation, Automation of Legal Case and Office Management, Major Office renovation of Judicial Wing at Sena Bhawan, establishing Asia’s only military Law Institute, i.e. Institute of Military Law at New Delhi etc.

❖ Awarded ‘Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal’ by the President of India for leading the largest legal cadre of the Indian Army in an exemplary manner and for providing relentless legal cover to the Chief of Army Staff having 13 lakh troops in maintaining discipline and war preparedness as also for contributing significantly in executing pathbreaking military reforms and bringing jointness in the Department of Military Affairs/Ministry of Defence.
❖ Awarded ‘Sena Medal (Gallantry)’ (SM) by the President of India in ‘OPERATION PAWAN’ while serving as IPKF at Sri Lanka for showing extreme courage and valour in the face of enemy and became the first ever direct commissioned JAG officer to receive the said gallantry award .
❖ Awarded ‘Vishisht Sewa Medal’ (VSM) by the President of India for his remarkable achievement in resolving complex cases relating to operational law involving aspects of alleged Human Rights and during his tenure, he could historically achieve Zero pendency of such cases in the most sensitive Counter Insurgency infected Chinar Corps Zone in Kashmir Valley. The officer holds a unique distinction to be the first ever JAG Departmental Officer to be awarded a ‘VSM’ while serving as Deputy Judge Advocate General in Kashmir Valley.
❖ Awarded Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Commendation Card in 2006 for managing, defending and controlling the litigation of Military Secretary Branch before High Courts and Supreme Court in an exceptional manner as being the Assistant Military Secretary (Legal).
❖ Awarded General Officer Commanding-in- Chief (GOC-in-C) Commendation Card by the GOC-in-C , Western Command in 2001 for performing the duties of Officer-in-Charge , Legal Cell, Punjab & Haryana High Court , Chandigarh, (which is one of the busiest High Court in terms of case load) in an exemplary manner and achieving historic disposal of cases as also defending the interest of Union of India in an outstanding manner.
❖ Awarded General Officer Commanding-in- Chief (GOC-in-C) Commendation Card by the GOC-in-C, Eastern Command in 2011 for performing the duties of Deputy Assistant Judge Advocate General at HQ Eastern Command and conducting the Court Martial as Judge Advocate in a commendable manner setting example to the environment.
