Dr Mala Bhandari, Founder-Director

Mala is Ph.D. in Sociology from University of Delhi. Her area of research has been Women, Work and their Quality of Life. She has had a three years Post-Doctoral research experience in Gender and Development from University of Pune, Maharashtra.


Mrs Anita Varma, Secretary

Anita is a gentle and calm person with an extensive experience in Education sector. She has been actively engaged in the Primary and Middle school education for the last 25 years. Dedicated to social sector and a zeal to add relevance in life, Anita actively pursues the organization’s interest with other members of the Managing Committee. Her love for children and years of experience in education sector is a definite asset to the organization.

Hari Kumar Tyagi, Treasurer

Hari kumar
Hari has done Sociology from Delhi School of Economics.
Hari has created a niche for himself in Journalism, taking on the journey from M.Phil. days when he observed and analyzed grassroots social practices in the context of sociological concepts and definitions. He traveled widely in the quest to understand regional diversities and existing social realities of India.
Hari is currently a Journalist with the New Delhi Bureau of The New York Times. He contributes to the Indian story of NYT.


Dr Richa Awasthy , Member

A Post Graduate in Psychology with specialization in Organizational Behaviour, Richa is teaching faculty in School of Business, Public Policy and Social Entrepreneurship at Ambedkar University, Delhi. With years of experience in research, consultancy and teaching, she is a certified FIROB administer.
A university rank holder in Applied Psychology, Richa has published several articles in International and National Journals like The Learning Organization, Asian Case Research Journal, International Journal of Indian Cultural and Business Management.
Richa did Ph.D. on the employees’ perception of transplanted organizational practices of MNCs operating in India. Her current interests are cross-cultural studies, intercultural relations, organizational diagnosis, Learning organization, 360 degree performance appraisal.

Dr Sumati Varma, Member

Sumita Verma
Sumati is Associate Professor at the Department of Commerce, Delhi University. She was awarded the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) fellowship in 2011, by the US Govt. for her contribution to the first ever programme on American Studies for Indian Universities.

Sumati has been a consultant to the World Bank and has contributed to its flagship publication Investing Across Borders (2012). She is also a consultant in curriculum development at the American Centre, at the e-PG Pathshala project under NMEICT, Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD ) and the National Council for Educational Research and Training, a nodal agency for curriculum development for Indian schools. Her research interests include Born Global firms, where she has done pioneering work in the Indian context, international entrepreneurship, strategic alliances, cross border M&As and issues in Regional Economic Integration. Her papers have been published in leading journals of the world.

Sumati has authored / co –authored eight books, including one on Currency Convertibility (2007) and the latest on International Business, a text book for post graduate students from Pearson International (2012) and a Delhi University specific edition (2014, 15).

Roopak Chauhan, Member


A qualified Engineer in Electronics & Telecom, Roopak has had a long association with IT industry. He left IT to join the development sector around 12 years back. During his long association with American India Foundation, Roopak planned and implemented multi level & large scale projects in ICT in Education, Digital Media and Skills Development in multiple states across India. He has worked directly with the youth through training imparted to educators & facilitators. He is a self-taught visual designer and supports youth in making documentary films, stop-motion animations, photo essays and community comic strips.

Roopak has a passion for theatre and shadow puppetry for children. He is a member of several reputed theatre groups based in Delhi.

Mrs Namrata Gupta, Member

Namrata has an extensive experience in the Indian travel industry. In her personal capacity, Namrata is involved in several social causes. She is actively involved in the activities of community well- at a personal as well as the organization’s level. Namrata has been a supporter of SADRAG and is always forthcoming to extend her help for the social causes.
