Thematic Convergence Model for Women Empowerment

“Thematic Convergence Project for Women Empowerment”, sponsored by National Mission for Empowerment of Women, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India was launched in 2014 to create a Convergent Model on Women Empowerment in district Gautam Budh Nagar, U.P. The major components of the project were gender sensitisation of stakeholders, safety audit, awareness on issues of violence against women and young girls and safe environment and gender audit. The project was officially inaugurated on occasion of International women’s day, 2014 at The Great India Place, Noida.


The project aimed at creating a safe and sensitized environment for women and young girls through multi stakeholders approach by raising awareness among the community, identifying unsafe zones in the district, sensitizing the stakeholders and providing a technology based solution.

During the year long project, a total of 2500 youth including community members were mobilized through open platforms, Nari ki Chaupals and Walkathon (awareness generation rally) to take up a pro active role to address the issues of violence against women and young girls. Through social media, another 1200 youth were mobilized through Face book and Twitter on the subject.

In the Corporate sector, around 250 employees were provided training on The Sexual Harassment at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. Gender sensitisation trainings of 560 stakeholders including police, teachers, principles, Judges, Lawyers, RWA members and Health care providers were conducted on concerned issues.

Technology solutions were worked at to address the issue as important as women’s safety. A Mobile Application called Safe Noida was launched as an Information Tool for women to stay informed about their rights, legislation, complaint redresssal mechanism, safety tips, current happenings, recourse to police officials and initiatives to make the district safe for women.


The App also provide numerous information ranging from name, location of all the district police stations, hospitals, blood banks, Helpline numbers etc.
